employment tribunal statisticsThe Ministry of Justice has published the employment tribunal statistics for the third quarter of 2015 for employment claims.  The statistics cover the period July to September 2015 with the number of claims received by the tribunal similar to the previous quarter.

During the period, 4,345 single claims were received by employment tribunals, which is 4% more than in the same period of 2014. Overall the statistics continue the theme of a reduced level of claims since the introduction of employment tribunal fees. There was a significant increase in the number of multiple claims received for the third quarter compared to the same period in 2014.  However, this is distorted by the receipt of two large age discrimination and equal pay claims which alone would account for the difference.

In this latest set of statistics, tribunals have disposed of fewer claims, 39% less than the same period the year before and the lowest number of disposals since 2009 when the statistics were first published.  There has however been an increase in the number of issue fee and hearing fee remissions compared with the same period the year before.
