Employment solicitor for Employers
Not only do I have experience of acting for employers but I also have experience of running a business and the commercial pressures that come with that role. I have acted for employers from a variety of sectors: aerospace, telecoms, manufacturing, legal services, football, motorsport, financial services and the service industries. Each sector has unique challenges and each business is different.
I prefer to form long term relationships with my employer clients getting to know their businesses and culture so I can tailor my advice to their needs. Many of my clients prefer to have a retainer with me so that if an issue arises they can pick up the phone or drop me an email. The relationship often starts with a review of contracts and policies or fire fighting a particular issue. Many employers like to use me as an extension of their HR department or instead of a HR practitioner. Sometimes I am even brought in by external HR consultants when the matter becomes too complex. Take a look below at some of the specific services I can offer and have a look at the testimonials from my employer clients. I am happy to provide a no-obligation quotation for any piece of work you have in mind and do offer some fixed fee services as well as the more traditional hourly rate so contact me.
My vast experience of acting for employers means that I can provide commercial advice on any employment law issue. I have conducted redundancy consultations, held disciplinaries and heard grievances. I have provided telephone advice to the HR team on a complex matter or been the point of call during a disciplinary to advise on whether there were grounds to dismiss.
I prefer to form long term relationships with my employer clients getting to know their businesses and culture so I can tailor my advice to their needs. Many of my clients prefer to have a retainer with me so that if an issue arises they can pick up the phone or drop me an email. I have a number of existing clients who agree terms of business and for whom I provide ad-hoc advice as and when required on a retainer basis.
I am an experienced employment law trainer having provided employment law updates to HR professionals and clients in a public seminar format. I have also designed and delivered bespoke training programmes for the managers of employer clients. Any employment law topic can be covered from recruitment to dismissal including the hot topics of handling disciplinaries and equal opportunities. The training will be delivered in an interactive way to ensure that delegates are fully engaged.
It is often surprising how many employers do not have the basics in place. Others have the contracts and policies but they have been in place for some time. It is recommended that even if you have existing employment contracts, policies and handbooks these are reviewed every two years to ensure that they are legally compliant.
Nobody likes to be in a situation where redundancies become necessary. Over recent years in this economic climate sometimes difficult decisions have had to be made to preserve the business going forward. I have handled a number of redundancy situations from at risk through to dismissal including conducting the consultation meetings with the client.
Unfortunately Employment Tribunals can be an inevitable part of having a workforce. In some instances whatever you do some employees will want to have their day in Tribunal however weak their case. Perhaps you have a situation that escalated or didn’t quite follow the procedure whatever the situation I can help. I can handle a Tribunal case from the stage where you need to file a Response right through to the hearing.
