The Tribunal statistics for the period April – June 2016 have been released. They show a marginal drop in single claims compared to the same period last year (3%) and that there has been a further increase in multiple claims by 38% for the same period.
Over 15,000 claims were issued in that three month window and over 2,200 applications made for remission of the issue fee. Fewer applications were made for remission of the hearing fee (which is of course the bigger fee). Over 64% of the issue fee remission applications were successful for full or partial remission of that fee.
Interestingly 84% of Claimants were professionally represented in claims before the Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal which is up from 75% in 2014/2015. This could be by virtue of the large number of multiple claims in the system where representation is more likely rather than a general trend.
