Redundancies

Nobody likes to be in a situation where redundancies become necessary. Over recent years in this economic climate sometimes difficult decisions have had to be made to preserve the business going forward. I have handled a number of redundancy situations from at risk through to dismissal including conducting the consultation meetings with the client.

If you think that you may be in a situation where redundancies could be necessary it is important to seek advice early. If you are in a collective redundancy consultation situation, where it appears that you may need to dismiss more than 20 employees, this becomes even more critical as the process is more formal with set periods for consultation and planning is key. Whether you are seeking to make just one or many redundancies at one establishment consultation is a requirement for a fair process.

Employers can be concerned that they may fall foul of the law when it comes to process. I can be as involved as you like in the process and have experience of conducting the consultation meetings and dismissal meetings with the manager of the employees in question. Other employers prefer to handle those matters internally but want to ensure that they follow a robust process with carefully drafted documentation to support that process. Either way I can help. I can provide a fixed fee for the whole redundancy process, a set part of it or a quotation on the more traditional time spent basis for the route you wish to follow.
